The Trent Richardson Problem
When the Colts traded for Trent Richardson I don't think they expected a year after acquiring him that he would run for 12 yards on 8 carries and he would be overshadowed by Dan "Boom" Herron. The Colts coaching staff still thinks that Trent Richardson is the answer at running back and their "Rolling Ball of Butcher Knives and they still keep going back to him even after his poor performances and not Herron who has clearly shown he is the better rusher. This is very similar to last season when Richardson got the majority of carries over Donald Brown when Brown had one of the best yards per carry in the league. I think it's time for the Colts to finally give up on Trent Richardson and sit him on the bench for the rest of the season or give him the Darrius Heyward-Bey treatment and have him just play special teams so Zurlon Tipton can be the backup. Then after the season we should see what we can get for trading him and if we can't get anything then we need to cut him. Herron and Vick Ballard who will hopefully be healthy next season can form a solid RB duo that can take some pressure off Luck.
