A Second Base Option For the Yankees

The New York Yankees are going to have a competition at 2nd base during Spring Training between top prospects Rob Resfrynder and Jose Pirela and failed top prospects of organizations that they signed to minor league contracts in Nick Noonan and Cole Figueroa. I think another person should be added to the competition and that person should be Cesar Izturis. Cesar Izturis is a 12 year veteran who has played for multiple teams and is considered a good veteran presence. He took a season off in 2014 after he was cut during Spring Training with the Astros but he is playing in the Venezuelan League to jumpstart his career. He has really been tearing it up in the Venezuelan League and he is a leading candidate for Comeback Player of the Year in the league even with getting hit in the head and missing quite a bit of time. The comeback player of the year last year in the Venezuelan league was Bobby Abreu who was able to parlay his success into a minor league contract with the Mets and received some playing time with the big league club in Septemeber. Cesar would also be a better offensive option than the Yankees current utility player Brendan Ryan while providing the same quality defense. I think Cesar is a good option for the Yankees to at least sign to a minor league contract to see if he still be a major league hitter.
