The person who holds the Major League record for most errors in a season is Herman Long who made 122 errors when playing shortstop and second base for the Kansas City Cowboys of the American Association. Fielding was very bad in the early days of baseball, and it was so bad that in 1898 while playing for the Boston Beaneaters Long lead the league in Defensive WAR in a season in which he made 67 errors.
