Top Golfers to Never Win a Major

Before Sergio Garcia won the Masters a few weeks ago, he was often regarded as the best active golfer without a major win. So here is who I believe are the top 10 golfers without a major win. Colin Montgomerie is probably the best golfer of all time without a major win, however as he does not currently play on the PGA nor the European Tour he doesn't count for this ranking.

Just Missed

Soren Kjeldsen
Ian Poulter
Charlie Hoffman
Bill Haas
Ryan Moore

10. Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas is still only 23 years old and that's partly why he's ranked #10, as he still has a long time to win some majors. He's already #8 in the world and has 4 PGA Tour wins including 3 this season, which none of interestingly enough have been in the continental United States. His best finish in a major is a T15 at the 2015 PGA Championship.

9. Branden Grace

Ever since the 2015 US Open where he burst on the scene by leading through 54 holes at Chambers Bay but ended up finishing T4, South African Branden Grace has been in contention in nearly all the majors and even got his first PGA Tour win at Harbour Town after winning 10 in Europe and South Africa. He's still only 28 years old and has many good years ahead of him.

8. Luke Donald

Former world #1 Luke Donald is still only 39 years old but he may not have too many good golf years left in him, as he hasn't won since 2013 and is in danger of dropping out of the top 100 in the world. He has finished in the top 5 in each major, with his best finish being a T3 at the 2005 Masters and 2006 PGA Championship.

7. Lee Westwood

Lee Westwood who was also a former world #1 has played in 75 majors and has not won any which is the most out of any active golfer, but he is 42 years old and hasn't won since 2014. He has played very well in majors as of late as in 2016 he finished T2 at the Masters

6. Patrick Reed

Patrick Reed is only 26 years old and has won 5 times on the PGA Tour but what he is most known for is his Ryder Cup heroics last year where he bested Rory McIlroy in a Sunday Final Singles match. He has 5 career Top 25's in majors but has never come very close to ever winning one.

5. Matt Kuchar

Matt Kuchar seems to be the most consistent member on the PGA Tour, it seems like every week he plays he's able to get a Top 10. He has been close to winning majors multiple times with getting top 10's in the Masters 4 out of the past 6 years, including a T4 this past year. He's 38 years old so he should have a few more good years left.

4. Brandt Snedeker

Brandt Snedeker, a former Fedex Cup Champion has always seemed like he had the talent to win a major, he just hasn't won one yet. He is still only 36 years old so he has plenty of opportunities. He finished second at the Masters back in 2008, and he's always played pretty consistently well in majors.

3. Hideki Matsuyama

Hideki Matsuyama is looking to be the first Japanese golfer to ever win a major, and he definitely has the talent to do it. He's won 4 times on the PGA Tour and 8 times in Japan and his only 25 years old. He's finished in the Top 10 or better at every single major, it's probably just a matter of time until he gets his first major.

2. Rickie Fowler

In 2014 Rickie Fowler finished in the top 5 in every single major, but unfortunately he hasn't finished in the top 5 since. He is in the top 10 in the world, and has won the Players Championship which is the unofficial "5th major". He was contending in the Masters this year before he fell apart on the final day.

1. Paul Casey

It may seem odd to put a guy at #1 who has 1 career PGA Tour win which was back in 2009 but does have 13 career European Tour wins. But Paul Casey has finished in the top 10 at the Masters 3 straight years, he has 15 career top 25 in majors and 9 career top 10's. He's 39 years old so he has a few more good years left, and I definitely see him winning a major sometime in the near future.
